The volume, recently published by SAET, contains 40 contributions presented during the Workshop organized at the Scuola Normale Superiore (Pisa, December 2012) within the cycle Giornate internazionali di studi sull’area elima e la Sicilia occidentale nel contesto mediterraneo, in an updated framework compared to past synthesis works.
Cities, urban centers and settlements of the different populations and cultures of ancient Sicily, “the plural island”, are presented as a whole or analytically with attention to problems and to historical, literary and archaeological sources. The point of view is chronologically wide and articulated, involving different geographical areas, disciplines and documentary evidence.
