The OltrePlinio project has promoted a series of papers on the biographies of artists in Greek and Roman times, now published in Annali della Scuola Normale Superiore. Classe di Lettere 13.1-2 (2021). The contributions were first presented in the workshop Le biografie degli artisti e la letteratura antiquaria tra mondo antico e moderno. “OltrePlinio” e “JacobyContinuatus”: un confronto, organized in 2019 by Gianfranco Adornato, Eva Falaschi and Stefan Schorn at the Scuola Normale.
The papers deal with the problem of the definition of the literary genre and its features, with the dissemination and success in other cultural environments, also offering insights on single case studies.
